This summer, Camp Chaverim opened its doors to 132 enthusiastic campers. Little did they know, they were in for a SERIOUS treat! Each week, campers were presented with challenges, new skills to learn, and a lot about which to talk. Campers kicked off the summer with the knowledge that they would be off campus more than they have in the past. Each week, our camp groups traveled to the Mariners’ Museum to enjoy recreation, wellness, and learning by the Lake. Campers spent their time learning how to kayak, investigate specimens, and went on scavenger hunts through the museum.
Our esteemed team of counselors helped to continue the task of keeping our summer enthusiasts busy. Campers and counselors worked together to build vessels sturdy enough to protect a watermelon from a 10 foot drop, learned how to play volleyball, participated in soccer and Taekwondo clinics, celebrated Shabbat through dramatic arts, crafted beautiful clay pinch pots, enjoyed perfecting their cannonball skills at Wendwood Pool, made challah from scratch, and successfully launched themselves off the UJC zipline. Campers young and old created summer moments that could not have happened anywhere else. It has become clear to all, Camp Chaverim takes having fun very seriously!
