With communities in crisis following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, the UJCVP and Jewish Federations are mobilizing to offer vital support.
Hurricane Helene has struck the east coast as a powerful Category 4 storm, bringing with it wind speeds exceeding 140 mph, a storm surge expected to surpass 20 feet, and more than 15 inches of rainfall, causing widespread flooding and damage across Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. Entire communities have been plunged into darkness, with homes and businesses severely impacted and cut off from main roadways. Thousands of residents have been displaced, and Jewish communities are facing urgent needs for recovery, aid, and rebuilding.
Jewish Federations are uniquely positioned to offer vital support in times of crisis like this. You can help by contributing to the Hurricane Helene Emergency Relief Fund, ensuring that Jewish communities and those affected receive the assistance they need.

The American Red Cross is on the ground helping people who are dealing with the devastation left behind Huricane Helene. The Red Cross urgently needs your help to support those impacted.
As Hurricane Helene has brought widespread, life-threatening storm surges, flooding and high winds throughout the Southeast, dozens of American Red Cross blood drives have been canceled, impacting nearly 1,000 blood and platelet donations.
In unaffected areas, individuals are urged to make and keep their blood and platelet donation appointments.

NECHAMA – Jewish Response to Disaster, is the only Jewish organization to offer sustained direct services in the US following the onset of a hurricane, tornado, flood, or other natural disaster.
NECHAMA’s Programs aim to provide disaster-affected communities with the resources needed to not only rebuild after natural disasters, but also to enable these communities to better prepare for and respond to events in the future.
While NECHAMA enlists the help of local volunteers for on-site emergency response, there is also a need for virtual assistance.
Please click below to fill out a form if you are interested in joining NECHAMA for a virtual Hurricane Helene response.
Volunteers will be working through Crisis Cleanup to get survivors into the Crisis Cleanup system that is a shared database for all the non-profits on the ground. Being in Crisis Cleanup is the fastest way for a survivor to get help.
