MIchael C. Ashe (Mike) was born in December 1939 in Paris, France. After being hidded from the Vichy and Nazis by righteous non-Jews in a small village in the south of France from 1940-1945, Mike and his sister and parents immigrated to the United States in 1949. He and his family settled in Norfolk, Virginia where many family members had already settled before WWII.

Speaking no English, he quickly adapted and attended Blair Junior High School and then Maury High School. At Maury, Mike played in the band, was on the varsity baketball and varsity track teams.

He then attended Virginia Tech and worked playing saxophone in a band to pay his way through school. Mike graduated with a bachelor of architecture degree and began his lifelong career in architecture. He has practiced architecture for over 50 years as principle of his own firm and was lead arcitech for the design of many local buildings: Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, Suffok Center for the Performing Arts, Strawbridge Elem. School, Ocean Lakes High School, Pavilian Arts and Conference Center.

He is most proud of the life he has shared with his wife of 62 years, Marilyn, and their 3 children and 10 grandchildren.

Mike continues to practice architecture as a consultant. He enjoys celebrating all of life's moments, large and small, with family and friends, grateful for the gift of life from the righteous ones who saved him and allowed him to live a rich, fulfilling life.
