Join us for a screening of the HBO Original: A Tree of Life to experience a community in the aftermath of a violent attack, as they work to rebuild and heal.
Despite core differences, they come together to determine what justice looks like and how to best move forward while honoring and learning from the past. The film sheds light on the collective trauma suffered by a tight-knit group and brings into sharp focus the hate-based rhetoric that surrounds many of the mass shootings today, threatening the fabric of our society.
Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion with a survivor of the shooting and security experts, including:
- Carol Black, Survivor of the 2018 Pittsburgh synagogue shooting
- Brad Orsini, SCN Senior National Security Advisor
- Rabbi David Katz, Temple Beth El of Williamsburg
- Eric Maurer, CEO of the United Jewish Community of the Virginia Peninsula
Admission: $10 per person
Free admission for college students with registration
